California
Council AIA150 Media Support Program
Through
a comprehensive media relations effort, AIA
California is
increasing public awareness of architects and architecture throughout
the state, both from an historic perspective, as well as current ways
in which architects are making a difference in the landscape of
California. Through communications and public affairs
activities, AIA
California is spreading the message of the value of the
profession
and the active role that architects play in their
communities. In
addition, AIA
California staff members have developed and distributed
important profession-related articles on issues such as environmental
sustainability.
Training sessions held in San Francisco and Los Angeles produced 23 new
members for the AIA California Speakers Bureau who are trained to speak
to the media. The AIA
California has also written and distributed
13 press releases to state-wide media, resulting in articles in more
than 50 publications.
A comprehensive media kit was compiled and distributed to all local
components, and includes AIA150 Talking Points, a history of all
Pritzker Award recipients, an AIA150 Fact Sheet, and several copies of
press releases and articles.
